[50 Size In 5 PCS ]
The step drill bit set includes five standard HSS step drill bits that can replace 50 individual drill bits. A drill bit can be used as a substitute for multiple drill bits to meet different needs. With the five pieces step drill bits that we offered, you can process 50 different kinds of diameter holes, which greatly saves you a lot of trouble and space. That means, 50 sizes are condensed into five, making the drilling become more simple and practical.
[HSS and Titanium Coating]
Made of strong and durable high speed steel coated with titanium , high speed steel make it last longer than others, titanium coating ensure easily cut thin through steel sheets, aluminum sheets, copper & plastic & wood board and many other types of sheet metal with ease, and it can automatically deburr holes while drilling to keep the drill bit clean.
[Double Cutting Blades and Three-Sided Shank]
Double cutting blades and X-type openings design ensures a faster and smoother cutting; and 3-sided shank design prevents slip in drill chuck; Provided with small pressure and the sets can cut through the wood, sheet metal, steel and other surfaces
[135 Degree Spilt Point Tip and Two-Flute Design]
The split point tip is at 135 degrees to increase the cutting speed with self-centering and prevent walking, which allows you to cut faster. The two flute design also provides a faster and smoother cutting. And it clears chips faster, allows the material particles escape easily for a much more clean drilling operation. Just provided with small pressure, the step drill bit set can easily cut through most types of sheet mental.
[Hard Automatic Center Punch] The thimble head is made of carbide tipped bit and its impact resistance is 10 times that of ordinary center punches;before drilling, automatic center punch can mark the positioning hole to prevent the drill and the screw from sliding

I still give this a 5 star however because the bits work very well for my use and storage is made easy. Most importantly one of the most professional customer support groups I have had the pleasure of speaking with. Quick to answer, extremely courteous, and understanding of the situation. Be glad to purchase through them again.
This is my second time purchasing this set. They are great quality for the price. I am an electrician and use them a lot in industrial/commercial sites. They hold up really well, even on stainless as long as you don't go full speed. I use the longer/more steps 1/2" bit the most by far and it eventually wore out. That's definitely due to the amount of stainless it has gone through. It's so much faster/easier to put a 1/2" hole in stainless with this and a 1/4" bit to start than drill bits alone.
Been using these lightly for just about 2 years now. It’s impossible for me to say if these are truly made of cobalt, I’m no metallurgist, but they have stayed plenty sharp and hardly heat up at all with heavy use in steel. This is a crazy good value for cobalt step bits. If you’re a machinist and will use them everyday, maybe they wouldn’t hold up long term. For me I’ve been VERY happy with the purchase. The hard case, the variety of the bits. All great.
I have a bunch of unibit step drills in my collection but not in all of the sizes provided in this set. I figured I should buy this set since I will be starting on my straight axle swap project, where I need to be drilling a lot of mild steel. My old unibits were worn as well, so getting a new set will make things a bit easier when I need to use these.
i read the reviews. i really don't see how anyone could find anything wrong with these. talk about HANDY bits to have, especially when you need to have a certain sized hole in an electrical breaker panel and all you have are "3/8" knockouts available and you need something larger. now maybe over time these don't last as long as the VERY expensive Greenlee's you can get from Grainger, but so far it has held up for what i need it for, and has done very well. I am not an electrician who wires several houses a week (and maybe they dull over time), but i used to be an electrician and i wish i had these babies. would have made short work out of the time i spent using a greenlee hole cutter, i can tell you that much. you won't regret these. jsut make sure you use them as intended. i don;'t think they are designed for cast iron, iron, dolid steel ,etc, but how often do you run into that anyhow? will work great in plastic, in electrical service panels, etc.
I usually buy tools when needed for a project. This time it was a nice set with a nice case - I've been misplacing my step drill bits for months because they didn't set place to live in the shop so I upgraded. Sunday I replaced the kitchen faucet, Tuesday I put the old kitchen faucet on the utility sink. It didn't fit, I had to enlarge the center hole. The largest bit in this set was 1/8" bigger than what I had before and exactly the size I needed. What would have been a major problem turned into a 5 minute chore. Nice set in a nice case - setting on the shelf with the other seven sets of drill bits! Jim
These have worked very well for the aluminum parts I needed holes drilled into, ate through the metal like butter. I imagine it they would work very good in plastics or soft metals, don't know about harder metals like steel, but for my normal applications these work pretty well. The latch on the case was kind of flimsy, but that's fine, I wasn't really planning on using the case anyway. Overall very pleased with this purchase.
Very nice set, very securely boxed. Received today, and tried one out since I will be using the set this coming weekend. Nice clean cut, no hesitation at all. Time will tell if they hold up. Didn't see much description about the case; it is overkill nice. Looks like a Barbie doll steamer trunk; heavy-duty aluminum case reinforced at the corners with a positive latch. Dense foam inside holds the bits, and a layer of softer foam is glued into the upper lid. Closed case is ≈ 6-1/8" x 4-1/8" x 1-5/8". Nice set for not a lot of money.
I wanted to widen the 5/16" hole in a stainless steel tap wrench to 1/2" and needed the hole to remain perpendicular to the wrenches top and bottom. I put the wrench in a drill press vise then managed to accomplish exactly what I wanted in 5 minutes using the 1/8" - 1/2" bit, ... with a hand drill! I didn't even break a sweat. Other black oxide coated HSS, titanium nitride coated HSS, spray painted Chinesium Speed Steel, etc step drill bits I've used chug along and require solid downward pressure to go anywhere, even with a power drill vs. zinc/galvanized steel. These carve shiny slivers of stainless steel continuously along all of the cutting edges as I take a sip of beer and spin the pin vise with one hand.
As things go, I needed to make a 7/8 inch hole in what was previously a 3/4 inch hole in 1/4 inch steel plate. I thought the #5 bit would work just fine as it's last and largest step is 7/8. All I needed to do was hone out the hole from 3/4 to 7/8. I use a good cutting oil and got through the first 3 cuts just fine. Then on 4 it just got worse and the 5th hole I got nothing but smoke. I think these are probably good for thinner softer metals and wood but not for anything thicker. UPDATE: The Banyan company had contacted me about the issue I had. I explained it to them and they made good on it. Customer service has always been the most important aspect in buying and selling and these folks come out on top. They felt their product should have been better and stated they would check quality control to make sure their product would hold up better. That is what will make me shop for their products in the future.
I have 1/8" mild steel plate and I create a small hole with a drill bit. From there I use these step drill bits, using medium speed and some WD-40 or cutting oil and it's only a matter of 15 seconds or so to widen the original hole and begin to enlarge it. These have held up nicely with what I've needed to drill through. Control the speed and use a lubricant and you'll be cutting holes in no time! Yes, I'd absolutely buy these again!
I'll say this is a good backup kit. This is not for everyday heavy work use. Is more like for small projects. If you planning to use them for everyday work, I'll recommend buying a more heavy and durable bits. I love the case, is really nice, I'm sure the case along its half the price you paying for the whole thing. So if you break one bit, you can replace it with a more heavy duty one and keep them there. Once I'm use them, I'll give an update. For now I'll give them a 5 stars for value.
Works for what I needed! Idk his long these will stay sharp. But for the small projects I have they are perfect. I made 24 smallish holes through sheet metal for bolts to go through for vents on trailer. And two bigger holes through thicker sheet metal to install trailer lights.
I used to use a Dremel to make openings in plastic boxes. There was no way to guide the cutting wheel and the plastic will melt into a mess. These were so easy. They make the perfect(!!) holes in plastic. I just pre-drill a small pilot hole and let these go in at low speed. How I have lived this long without these bits, I had no idea. So beautiful!
Sharp and drill good I've been drilling truck frame rails with them work great.
I own a small business and do some sheet metal work. I have NEVER owned any of these before. PRETTY HAPPY. They went through 16ga, steel fairly easily. I WOULD RECOMMEND, to first drill an 1/8” pilot hole to preserve the tool. It is easy to resharpen a drill bit, but it might prove difficult on these. Nice gift item for the handy GUY or GAL.
This is a really nice assortment of uni-bits. The case is fantastic. My experience with this type of bit has taught me not to rush the cut. They really bite deep and so overheating and burning up the starter tip is common if you over-pressure. Looking forward to using this set of bits and having such a great collection of sizes. Excellent price for the bundle.
I bought these because it was the cheap wat to make one hole wider in my welder. They worked fine for that, and I've since used them for several holes in plastic. This morning I had stainless faceplates that I started with my regular bits, which tend to grab a bit in stainless. I finished the holes with these, and they were smooth as butter. For cheap bits I got for one project, they have surpassed my expectations.
After watching some reviews online on how I should be drilling plexiglass, since I was cracking it, I purchased these bits. Not only did they make the job easier, they made it child's play. Drilled over 30 holes in a single sheet of plexiglass without fail, or cracking, with barely any support. These guys come in a hard carrying box and will be my go to for acrylic or plexiglass drilling in the future.
I bought a set of these 5-6 years ago for drilling stainless steel electric panels at work. I did not have much expectation at the time, I really just wanted to get through the one job and at this price I considered it a write off. FFW 5-6 years forward and I’ll be damned, they are still cutting pretty darn good. So good, in fact, that I have gotten 2 friends to buy their own set and ordered a second set to keep at home. Blown away at the durability of these for the price.
I bought these because I can't seem to keep my tools in one spot and it was on sale. I was surprisingly impressed with the quality of these bits, I rarely use multi-hole bits to give any sort of accurate rating but, i did have a project with some 1/4" steel piping and these bits ate through it where the previous 2 bits, well, bit the dust. :P
Was installing a tow bar and needed to make a hole larger and to make sure the holes aligned to fit the bolt on the rear frame of the SUV. Very easy to use with any drill as long as it was adjustable to hold on to the drill bits. Did not take any time at all to do, very strong and durable.
So I bought this to drill a 1/2" (half-inch) hole through a solid surface sink. I wasn't 100% sure what the sink was made of (I needed to install an extra faucet spout for an under-sink water filter installation), and it was recommended to me to purchase a HSS bit and "GO SLOW!" with the assumption that acrylic/resin material will get hot and melt with too much drilling. I figured that this type of bit, being stepped, would reduce the amount of "constant friction" on the circumference of the drill point. It worked like a charm. I drilled a small pilot hole with a really tiny traditional wood bit (just to give this something to sink into out of extra precaution) but it probably wasn't necessary. This ate through the sink cleanly, like butter. It actually yielded a powder-like return from the sink material, and the hole was clean as an unused whistle. For what Home Depot and Lowes charge for "specialty bits", I couldn't care less if this bit only gets one more use (or none at all) - it was worth every penny. And for the record, it doesn't look like it saw any use at all. Maybe it was just the right material/bit match, or maybe this bit was endowed by Zeus himself. Either way, I really couldn't be happier. My only regret is that I didn't take before/after pictures.
Seem to work quite well for projects I was working with. I had an aluminum Hammond box I needed to drill for a guitar pedal and these worked well in my drill press. I could imagine less favorable results with a hand drill but I'm sure with practice they could also be used. Thus far, they are working well and I've had no issues but again; not using them for very hard materials at this point.
So far so good! I've only used two of the bits but I will say that they worked. I put one in a drill press and due to that one working perfectly, I put one in my corded drill. They both made holes with ease. I will recommend that you use some sort of drilling oil to help keep the bit cool and prevent it from warping. That has happened to me in the past with regular drill bits and metal. I used the two to cut holes in 1/4" steel plate. I'll update if I notice a performance issue with them. Otherwise, great deal for the money I think.
