I deboned/separated a few raw chickens with this and have used it several times since I bought it and WOW it works great! I did alot of research before I bought these because I am so sick of buying things that work once or twice and break - so far, these shears are perfect for my application - easy to maintain/wash i haven't had any trouble with the spring opening unexpectedly as mentioned in some reviews.
These are great shears. They easily cut through small to medium bones and do not put pressure points on my hand. I was able to cut the backbone out of a (spatchcock) large turkey with ease. Something my previous set of shears could not do. They come apart for a through cleaning.
I own several kitchen shears, broke a couple. This one with a curved blade can cut thru the back of a chicken to make spatchcocked chicken with ease. Well made. Definitely deserves a place in my kitchen.
These cut through the backbone of a 6 pound chicken effortlessly. They are a little clunky, but that is good - nobody else will want to use them. Tired of S.O. and/or kids dulling up and abusing your good kitchen shears because you keep them in a convenient spot in the kitchen ? These are perfect - they won't be able to figure them out, and will move on. People complain about the spring, but I don't have an issue at all. Good buy.
Due to a recent trauma that resulted in the amputation of my dominant hand, I have been looking for something that would help cutting chicken, this is it. Shears ery easy to use and cut through the chicken breast with grwat ease. Would absolutely recommend this product. I can't wait to see what other meats/vegetables I can use it on.
Like I really needed another kitchen gadget... But I am very happy with this purchase. I would recommend this narrow-function tool to anyone with sufficient kitchen drawer space. I bought this for a grilled whole chicken recipe which called for cutting the spine out of the bird to make it lay flat. While a good heavy knife worked fine, it was just a matter of time before it slipped and cut me (and I would prefer not to abuse my good knives to cut through bones), and whacking chickens with a cleaver results in bits and drips scattered about (ugh, more clean up). These poultry shears made my recipe easy to prep - for reference I am working with 4- to 5-pound fryer chickens. The spring-loaded handle feature is nice, but since I only do one chicken for the meal it's not of huge benefit to me personally. I also like that it can be disassembled easily for cleaning
I often struggled to cut up a whole chicken, even with very good chef’s knives. This sucker plowed through the bone, cartilege, back bone, etc. Really made it sort of fun to cut up the chicken. Took no time at all. I immediately sent my parents one of these. It is a winner!
Really works as represented. The device will easily cut through chicken bones, pork ribs, etc. Seems that the device's ability to cut through bones is only limited by the strength of your hands and the width of the blade opening. Comes apart so is easy to clean.
