Universal Dust Protective Cover For Angle Grinder

I hate the dust while grinding. And I will clean the dust every time after finishing my grinding tasks. I was trapped in the trouble for a long time. I saw the dust shroud on the web but its price is too high. And my friend recommend to try this dust shroud. And I bought one and it works great. And just do as manual, easy to install and set down. You can try it and you can have a dustless environment.

I bought this to do some concrete grinding to repaint areas of our basement floor where the old floor paint had begun delaminating, likely from poor surface prep by the previous owner. Diamond grinding is the ultimate method of surface prep for any concrete surface you will be applying paint or epoxy to. Unfortunately this dust shield did not fit my old Dewalt angle grinder, so I got one of the cheap harbor freight grinders on sale for ten bucks and this fit perfectly on that grinder using one of the included spacers. I also grabbed one of the cheap knockoff dust deputy cyclonic dust separators and what an absolutely amazing result. Literally ZERO dust. I was still expecting some to get by the shroud, or have the superfines make it through my vacuum filter but so far nothing has. Compared to my old method of grinding and after a minute or two not being able to see one foot in front of my face because of all the dust, then allowing it to settle and then vacuum, this is a cakewalk. I can do it indoors with zero ventilation and cant even get a whiff of that usual concrete dust smell that usually lingers in the air for hours. I am also going to use this to resurface my garage floor and epoxy coat, so we'll see how it holds up after 1000sqft of grinding. I'll update if it fails or the bristles wear out prematurely, but so far I'm happier than a pig in mud.

Best tool purchase I've made in a long time!

Mine is the black 4.3 amp Drillmaster 4-1/2" angle grinder and I had no trouble attaching this dust shroud. I was actually very impressed with the solid build of this thing despite the low price, and AMAZED by how well it worked. Practically eliminates dust completely. I purchased a different (and much more expensive) shroud previously and returned it immediately because I wasn't able to fasten it solidly to my grinder. No such trouble with this one.

So I had a Milwaukee grinder and the shroud did not go over the collar as it was mostly taken up my the wheel guard. So check your grinder for about a quarter inch of space behind where the wheen attaches. If there isn't any room, no shroud will really work, so, time to get a new grinder. I went to HD and traded mine for a Makita with the trigger on the handle. Once I got it fitted and the vacume attached, I was off to the races. I nearly captured all of the dust from what would have been a ton. I really think this tool is indespensible if you are going to do any grinding. And this HERZO delivers. Right price and quality. Seems like it is built to last.

I don't usually leave product reviews but this device definitely deserves one. I needed to grind a 4 foot section of my slab floor during a tile job because there was a hump. I used my Harbor Freight grinder and Dewalt diamond cup last week but after doing about 6 inches, it created so much dust I had to stop. It then took me a good hour to clean the room. I ordered this dust shroud, which attached perfectly to my 4.5 inch Harbor Freight angle grinder. The shroud comes with a few different collar inserts so you can easily find one to fit most spindles for 4-5 inch grinders. I attached the rubber vacuum boot to the shroud but my shop vac hose was a little big to fit in the other end, so I cut the first section off of the boot with my razor knife and then the vacuum was a nice tight fit. I have a 1 1/4 inch skinny hose on my shop vac but if you have the regular large 2 1/2 inch shop vac hose, you'll need to buy either the universal adapter on Amazon for 10 bucks (see my second to last picture) or the 2.5-1.25 adapter from Home Depot for a few bucks and then cut the rubber boot like I did. I just finished grinding a good 4 foot section of my floor in about 10 minutes with absolutely zero dust escaping into the house. I really can't believe how great this thing works. I was expecting some dust but there was none. If you have any concrete grinding to do, this is an absolutely essential piece of kit.

Such a wonderful product! Used this on the grinder as we were grinding up the mortar after taking up our tile kitchen and bath. The grinder wheel was a God send as well but kicked up a ton of dust! This product was great after booking up our shop vac it sucked almost all of the dust when grinding.

Ok this helps reduce the dust so much im happy don't know if other more expensive ones work better but this worked for me grate and for the price I give it 5 stars

This attachment did the job well for grinding the concrete in a basement to prep for epoxy resurfacing.

So, from my experience, it does the job, cost effective and easy to use.

What a life saver. I needed to grind cement walls in my 1400 sq ft unfinished basement to smooth the walls before applying a waterproof paint. I used a diamond grinding disc and metabo grinder with this. I used a shop vac brand vacuum also. with cement you absolutely have to buy a hepa filters for the vacuum. Don't start without it or the cement dust won't be captured by the regular filter. This attachment was easy to attach and I used high adhesive duct tape to keep it connected to the shop vac hose. No joke this captured like 90% or more of all the dust. Without this thing, I was in a cloud of cement dust in seconds. With it, I was able to do a couple hours of wall grinding a day. Great product!!

Works completely perfect. Strong parts. Clamps tight. Great features. I'll be buying more soon different sized.

I bought this along with a cheap diamond cup wheel to grind off the tile adhesive from a fireplace. I was extremely surprised by the effectiveness of the shroud and wheel combo, I would estimate cutting dust and debris by at least 95%. I found that the fit wasn’t perfect to my Makita 18v grinder but once I learned to apply only light pressure I discovered how effective it was. The adapter to my old home vacuum didn’t fit but soon remedied with some duck tape!! I bought the shop vac adapter but since my shop vac is very loud I went with my ex-home vac! All in all a great buy, for big jobs I would probably go with one of the big brands but for small jobs this more than dos the trick for much less money.

I tried every tool I had to remove the tile thinset from the subfloor to prep for putting in new laminate floors. Everything was a pain. Bought a diamond grinding disc from Homie D and paired it with this dust shroud. I was hesitant to spend the money for those things but immediately was so glad I had. The dust produced was minimal. Buy a fine dust collection filter for your shop vac for the best results. You won't be able to use this with a standard filter, the dust is too fine. The shroud did need a few little modifications for my Dewalt, but other reviews explained them well. Other than the purchase of the grinding disc, this is the best tool purchase I made for my current quarantine home remodel. As for my first born, the wife thinks that the 12 year old is happy with his name as it is.

Frankly I was astonished, and quite pleased, at how well the shroud contained virtually all the dust created by the diamond bit. My impression was that 99% of dust and larger particles were contained by the shroud and sucked into the vacuum.

I bought this to attach to my 4.5" Porter Cable grinder and 16 gallon Shop Vac. It was easy to mount to the grinder using the supplied spacer. I had to buy an inexpensive reducer kit for the vacuum. Once the Shop Vac was connected, I duct-taped the connections to keep them air tight, and to keep them from coming apart during the grinding operation. But once it was set up, it did provide a dust free grinding experience. My project was about 250 square feet in my basement. I was able to grind off some old vinyl tile adhesive and flatten some high spots. The only drawback to this set up is that it cannot get right up to the walls. The shroud has a larger diameter than the grinding cups, so it leaves about 1.25" strip of flooring that the grinding cup cannot get at.

Overall, I am very happy with this product.

I used this along with a Skil 9295 grinder and a KSEIBI 644030 to grind down some very high spots on my screen porch prior to tiling that I still need to do. It works great. I did use some duct tape to tape the shop vac hose to the dust shroud. Using this made it so there wasn't any dust in the air. Be advised, if you have a lot of grinding to do, your vac filter will probably clog. I wound up with a little less than half of a paper grocery bag full of dust. I had to turn off the vac, empty it, and tap out the filter every 10 minutes or so. When I was done, I rinsed out the shop vac filter and it came clean. I figured I had nothing to lose. If I didn't rinse it, it would need replacing anyway. Early on, before I taped the hose to the shroud, the hose came off. There was a lot of dust. Also, if I forgot to turn the vac back on and started grinding, it also made a lot of dust. The porch would have been a mess If I didn't have this. I also would have needed to wear a respirator and full goggles instead of safety glasses.

Read the reviews and decided to order to see if it would fit my grinder.... nope. But, wait, there's more. I have a Dewalt D400 that no dust shroud is made for, even by Dewalt. There's no shoulder for a dust shroud to clamp to. I ordered a grinder from "that HF cheap tool place" and noted that it had a nice wide shoulder under the arbor for mounting. Had to grind off (with the Dewalt) two little lugs for the Herzo to fit snugly. It went on with the thicker bushing and fit great. Stayed tight. Takes an adapter for the transition to the vac hose, but Amazon had that in stock as well. Took a couple of weeks of shopping / shipping but now I have a nicely functioning dust shrouded grinder. Looks like a pro setup. Very happy with the Herzo. Like the swing-away window up front that lets the grinding wheel go flush in corners and such.

If you have to take up thin set under ceramic tile this is the ticket. I used this wonderful attachment a “ OCR Blue B segment Diamond 4” grinding wheel” and a Rigid Wd1450 ship vac with the internal 2 ply bag from powermatic and let me tell you I had near zero dust escape. Only time I’d get dusting is when the vac to tool attachment point would stop up from small chips and splinters. Rare. Otherwise zero dust escaping. When I emptied my vac it had at least 20-25 lbs of dust in the bag. That would have been all over my house if not using this attachment. The combo I stated above made really fast work of removing the concrete thinset on plywood sub floor. Highly recommend this. Use a scraper first just to remove any easy to remove thinset, sweep it up then use this combo and just let it float above the thinset to cut with out damage to plywood. Unbelievable. Try it you’ll be surprised how quick it does the job.

Once I purchased an adapter so I could use the 2 1/4 “ hose on the shop vac it did a really great job of Sucking up the dust. It takes some patience to get it fitted just right But once you do it works great. It removes almost all of the dust when grinding thin set. I couldn’t use the grinder indoors without it. Good value for the money.

I bought this with the grinding wheel from Herzo to make sure the size and depth worked. It is absolutely amazing. I bought it to get old thinset off a concrete floor. I got my plastic to block off rooms and my dust mask and realized I needed neither. There is absolutely no dust using my Rigid shop vac and filter. It even has a door that allows it to get right up to a wall. A little gets kicked out with the door open but it is minimal and it was great to be able clean the whole area. I just bought another set for my buddy, even though we often work together just in case we both need one on different jobs. Fantastic.

This is such a great device! It took 3 minutes to figure out how to mount it onto my grinder and it required NO bushings to be used.

This product saved me so much time. It fit perfectly on my Harbor Freight angle grinder. It comes with many adapters and collars to probably fit any angle grinder. Very well made and worth it. I was able to use my Shop-Vac 1 1/4 " hose attached to it to vacuum up the thinset I was removing from a previously tiled floor. Keeps the dust to a minimum or to none. I would definitely recommend this if you are doing a tile job.
