This multimeter is useful for checking things in the house such as fuses, AC, DC outlet, batteries... Hope this information is helpful to you.
Display is very easy to read and is clear. The unit itself feels sturdy and has a nice casing. The dial clicks around easy enough. Comes with the required battery already installed, so it is ready to go out of the box. As far as accuracy, I have only tested it on a couple of things, but seems to be reading correct, other users have had more detailed reports that sound promising. For the price point, this one is definitely worth it.
I am pleased with this purchase. The DMMs are working nicely. They are as accurate as they need to be for the purpose I bought them.
Worked right of the box. Checked with battery and then made several measurements which all seemed accurate. The auto range feature worked great. Would like to be able to keep the back light on all the time but goes out after 30 seconds. Liked the built in probe holder on the back of the meter and stand. It fits comfortable in the hand. Best of all was the price for an auto-ranging meter which worked extremely well and seemed to have a quality build and feel to it. Since it does not have the bumper padding some other handheld meters have do not know how well it would survive a drop.
Just had the chance to use it to troubleshoot an outboard motor and it was great (bad solenoid). The stand worked fine on the sloped boat surfaces and it has enough bulk that it doesn't fall over as you move the leads around as the pocket type meters will do.
In terms of ergonomics and functionality this is a really nice multimeter. It's a bit smaller than I expected but chunky at the same time and will definitely take some abuse.
My first job with this was defeating GM's VATS / Passkey 2 system on a friend's car. This read the resistance of his key's "pellet" exactly as the same as my old Micronta multi-meter, so it made identifying the appropriate bypass resistor painless. From what I can tell, it is very accurate.
With the cables from my 1985 Radio Shack / Micronta digital multi-meter in tatters, it was actually less expensive to buy this than new leads. Well, maybe not, but that's what I've convinced myself. Plus this has a capacitor test (which I have yet to use) which will come in very handy with malfunctioning electronics.
Great product and quality is excellent, a life saver.
I must admit that I have only compared 3 of the under 20 buck meters, but this one is IMHO, one of the best bargains that I have considered and or tested.
This does everything! At first I was a bit intimidated and the instructions...well, if you need instructions these don't really help. If you know this all blindfolded, you don't need instructions. I went to YouTube and had it figured out quickly. It works absolutely and covers everything you would possibly need it for. I have used it to install 2 new outlets, a new overhead light, and replace 3 outlets. This helped in so many ways including testing the wires themselves (which an outlet tester cannot do) on 2 of the replaced outlets that initially had a whole bunch of wires coming and going from who knew where (common in older houses). This is truly a keeper!
Just buy it! You will not be disappointed. I checked its accuracy against a $600. Fluke recently calibrated meter and this unit was spot on! I then checked the capacitance readings against a calibrated Sencore Cap tester and it was within 1%. The display is large and bright. I bought it just to keep in my desk for battery measurements and tasks i don't feel like going to my bench to do. Ideal! Certainly worth the price and more. I'll probably buy a few more for Christmas gifts to friends that can use one.
I use a lot of batteries...toys, flashlights, frameless candles, etc. This multimeter replaces a cheap one I had that didn’t have a replaceable battery. This multimeter not only has durable cables, and a clear readout, there is the ability to change the battery when necessary. I use it about once a week and am pleased with my purchase—a dependable unit at a good price!
A pretty solid multimeter for the price. Replaced my cheapo "free with purchase" one from Harbor Freight which broke after a few uses. I don't have any other multimeter to compare for accuracy, but I'm not doing anything crazy which needs precise readings. All functions, such as continuity, voltage readings, amp readings, etc. work well.
I bought this Volt Ohm Meter to test the millivolt output on my wall furnace Thermopile Generator, less tham 750 volts range. It worked perfectly and accurately on the LED readout screen. The other function scales work great too. easy to use (do read the instruction manual on use of each scale). If you do not know what your are doing electrically, get a competent electrician before you harm yourself and/or misrepresent this meters capability. It works GREAT for me. I will definitely RECOMMEND and BUY this meter again if needed.
and I purchased this one for my wife, who likes to restore older cars - working on two '65 Mustangs at the moment. She was always borrowing mine so I bought this based on good reviews and a very modest price. On mine I have to push the range button to move the decimal point, but on this it automatically senses the range and adjusts. First click is AC voltage. Second click is DC voltage, and then the rest of the normal options. Perfect for her since the only thing I really have to say is whatever you do don't have it on the resistance setting and check voltage. But it is fused for screwups. I like it, and just used it yesterday. Easy to read, easy to use. And very inexpensive.
This is an EXTREMELY NICE multimeter FOR THE PRICE. It's the kind of unit I could let my son use and learn with (along with adequate safety instructions), knowing that it is reasonably accurate but at the same time if he breaks it, without being upset at all since this is cheaper than even a cheap dinner date. At the same time, it is nice, accurate, and solid enough I would definitely use these for simple around-the-house tasks like checking an alternator or contunity in a lower voltage appliance.
For the price appears pretty rugged with a rubberized protective housing. I imagine that for several dollars more you could find something more rugged if your needs for such were high, but for only a few dollars less (and maybe some costing more) there are units that for sure would not take as much physical stress or abuse. The accompanying user's manual is written in a concise and easily understood manner. It's so much easier to read the digital readout than the analog meter that I bought years ago; you don't have to decipher which of the needle markings are giving you the measured value; that's a big deal for the occasional user like me. And my old unit is one such I would estimate to be fairly fragile, as noted earlier. Do read the manual though, unless you are truly sure of what you are doing. There are plenty of things that you can do incorrectly that will create problems. This Etkcity is more than adequate for non-professional and light-duty use; I'm sure it would be fine for some professional applications, but not being such I am unable to truly speak to that. It was a great price and I received it well ahead of the projected delivery date.
The meter is tough and the readings are very clear. They have added a lot to the experiments. I would recommend them without any reservations.
I purchased a much more expensive, way too complicated "professional type" multi meter a few years ago for my husband thinking he'd really love the upgrade to his many years old basic model. Ummm, nope. Neither of us are electrical engineers and it seemed every time he needed to test for power or continuity to an outlet, he could never get the right settings to give him accurate readings resulting in numerous sessions of exhaustive swearing and wondering aloud "why won't it just tell me if it's got power?" Okay. Lesson learned. Bought this as a stocking stuffer for Christmas. You would think he got a new car. I honestly think he played with this and read the manual cover to cover, paying much more attention to it than nearly anything else. Best part is every occasion he has to use it since, and he goes looking for things to use it on, he says, " this is perfect."
I still have my nice $120 digital multimeter which I use for high precision work, but for my day to day workhorse, I carry one of these in my bag, in my car's toolbox, in the home toolbox, and my desk drawer at work. I know there have been some issues with fuses (others have noted) and I have not encountered this yet. The fuses do not have to be 100% the same, a few mm's difference is not going to prevent it from seating properly. Just make sure the rating is similar enough (find a fuse with a lower amp rating rather than higher). I will update the review when/if I encounter that issue and will give some instruction on where to source the fuses.
Great quality multimeter that works flawlessly! The display is easy to read and the selector switch gives the the user the ability to check dc/ac voltage, amps, olms, all in a broad range with a high degree of accuracy. The battery compartment is easy to access and replace the two AAA batteries. The multimeter also has a pull out stand that makes it easy to read while working on a bench or other flat surface. All in all the multimeter will give you the ability as a home owner or hobbiest to perform any circuit, ac or dc tasks to include all types and sizes of batteries!
I needed a meter to read capacitance and didn't want to spend a lot as this is a device "I" seldom will use. Just one that will be handy to have on occasion. Nice display. Read the instruction manual. It's not big and you might learn something.
All I have used it for so far is testing batteries. I like it alot! Easy to read. Nice solid feel to the switches and especially like the shockproof and drop proof sleeve around it. I also bought the black case recommended to go with it. Though I am satisfied with the case, and it will work together with the multimeter just fine. Still, I must point out that the case does seem a little snug.
I tested a grounding in the socket. I received a good and accurate test. I checked the continuity of the beep and the impedance checking. All the tests are accurate from the initial impression. I want to upgrade and replace the headphone cable. I can work safely with the device I was fighting in the right places with the multimeter device. I also checked batteries that it could save just throwing good batteries In the bin. I like the backlight of the display window and I can record the last reading on the display. The handy device in the compact hand stands nice on the table Rubber sleeve protects the device The addition is useful in the way This first device I bought I'm not an electrician Just a home user I learned the basic tests from the internet I'm sure I have a lot more tests I need a goat I have a good device and sturdy materials look good quality I have confidence In this work you will not be disappointed
